International Year of the Nurse One hundred years have passed since the death of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. To honor her legacy, nursing is celebrating 2010 as the International Year of the Nurse (www:2010iynurse.net). A commemorative service will be held on April 25, 4-5 pm, at the National Cathedral in Washington DC. No tickets are required, and the seating is open.

ANF Nursing Research Grants The American Nurses Foundation provides funds to beginner and experienced nurse researchers in all areas of nursing to conduct studies that contribute toward the advancement of nursing science and the enhancement of patient care. Minority Nurse Educators Thomas Edison State College has launched an online database of 52 minority nurse educators who completed the School of Nursing's 20-week Minority Nurse Educator Certification Program and 12-week mentored online teaching experience. The database is free to nursing schools interested in hiring the educators as adjunct faculty and increasing diversity at their institutions. The creation of the database is the final requirement of a 2005 grant the school received from the US Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration.
