This edition of Sociological Viewpoints commemorates the twenty-fifth anniversary of the journal. The Pennsylvania Sociological Society was founded in 1950. Although there was a frequent issuing of Socioline, the Society's newsletter, the journal took 35 years to develop. Very few state organizations publish their own peer reviewed journal. Thanks to Chuck Babbitt, the "father" of Sociological Viewpoints, and the other past editors, the PSS has enjoyed the continuous publication of its own journal since 1985. The Society is planning special ceremonies to commemorate this silver anniversary of the journal at its annual meeting to be held at Mansfield University in October.

This special spring edition of the journal features routinely submitted manuscripts, copies of several presentations made at the 59^sup th^ annual meeting, three "classic" articles from the journal's vault, and two book reviews. Over the past several years I have had the pleasure to research past editions of the journal. Among its contributors are a host of internationally recognized experts. Among these have been Art Shostak (labor unions and futurism), Claire Renzetti (domestic violence and women's studies), Joan Ferrante (globalization), John Macionis (community life and new information technologies), Darrell Steffensmeier (juvenile justice and crime), and Michael Burawoy (Past President of the American Sociological Association). …
