This is an exciting issue. This issue offers twelve different and compelling research papers. We have research papers ranging from Denmark to China and Sudan to Manila. The diversity of topics is as impressive as is the range of countries that are covered. Fertility, adoption, child care, unemployment, extended households and marital satisfaction are among the various topics covered in this issue.

Concomitant with the publication of this issue is some very welcome news. The past Editor of the Journal of Comparative Family Studies, George Kurian, has been selected as the 2010 recipient of the Jan Trost Award. The Jan Trost Award is a yearly award sponsored by the National Council on Family Relations' International Section.
