Creative Nursing 2010: A Year of Learning began with the challenges of integrating nursing education and the realities of practice and some tools that foster this integration: collective practice, international exchanges, relationship-based care, nursing salons, and the QSEN initiative. In our second issue, Ghanaian, Nigerian, Colombian, Tanzanian, Swedish, Russian, and American Indian voices joined in discussing intercultural issues in learning, including communication challenges faced by foreign-born faculty, linguistic bias in multiple-choice tests, and promoting positive learning environments among culturally diverse nurses and students as well as generational experiences, including multigenerational work groups and senior congregate housing.

Issue 3 of 2010, with our guest editor, a nurse who provides clinical information technology support in the Veterans Administration system and teaches informatics, spans the digital age: simulation tools from Mrs. Chase to avatars, online tools from webinars to e-learning for staff in elder care environments, documentation tools for faith community nurses, and concepts such as health literacy and complexity science theory. And this current issue on lifelong learning touches on themes that are timeless yet compelling: creativity, healthy work environments, self-care, mentoring and precepting, reflecting on our practice, and what it truly means to educate people for nursing.

Creative Nursing 2011 will be about communicating in the global sense of speaking, listening, and beyond. Our first issue, due out in February 2011, is called "Creating Presence," and includes articles on attunement, caring for caretakers, testing a caring assessment, and a review of Healing Presence: The Essence of Nursing, by JoEllen Koerner. …
