This edition of the Journal of Cultural Diversity explores several different aspects of education and culture. Sheila P. Davis, PhD, FAAN, Danyetta D. Davis, PhD and Deia D. Williams, MS provide vivid insight into the challenges that higher education in American must confront as they compete with a global environment. Citing numerous reports, the authors bring home the need for America's educators to rethink how we educate students and how we prepare them to be competitive in today' s world. Eric DeMeulenaere, PhD discusses the impact of sports on the academic success of students. This research provides insight into several ways that sports can and does promote academic success. Ways that sports can be used to navigate barriers to success are also presented. Disruptive student behavior or academic incivility in nursing education has increased resulting in a negative impact on the learning environment. This study provides a perspective on the conflict between traditional standards of behavior and those of the young people in the People's Republic of China.
