British writer Michael Perry left a wonderful legacy of excellent texts that live on in numerous hymnals and anthem settings. Composer Dan Forrest has set Gustav Hoist's majestic tune from The planets to Perry's masterful text in a wonderful celebratory anthem for Easter, festive services, or concerts. Because of the majesty of the tune, it is recommended to use instruments with this setting, to broaden the color and breadth that the anthem evokes. The key of B-flat rests well for brass: the men enter after a wellcrafted introduction. Directions from arranger Dan Forrest are to sing in a "prayerful, unhurried" manner. Women join the men at the half-stanza for four measures and sing through to the end of the stanza, sans men's voices for last four measures. …
