The Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission has recently added new podcasts to its website. They include: Michael Dougan on men and women at Arkansas's secession convention as well as two colorful figures, Elias Cornelius Boudinot and Gen. N. Bart Pearce; Mark Christ on the Confederate gunboat Pontchartrain and racial atrocities during the 1864 Camden Expedition; Cary Bradburn of the North Little Rock History Commission on wartime Huntersville, on the north bank of the Arkansas River; Stephan McAteer of the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History on the Little Rock Arsenal crisis; Bobby Roberts on Confederate general Thomas C. Hindman and the river war in Arkansas; William Frazier on the influence of Mexican War veterans on Civil War Arkansas; Ornett Grind of Arkansas State Parks on the memories of Omelia Thomas, whose family was freed from slavery during the war; Cynthia DeHaven Pitcock on Little Rock as a hospital town; Alan Thompson on Confederate general Dandridge McRae; and Ellen Lewis on the wartime experiences of Arkansas women. Students of the Civil War will also welcome the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's online "Charting a More Perfect Union, 1861-1865"-a collection of maps, charts, and documents prepared by the U.S. Coast Survey during the war.
