This issue of IFOTS challenges us with its variety of writing styles and definitions of terms and concepts. The interpretation of meanings of terms and concepts from within any particular cultural perspective gives pause for re-consideration of these very terms and concepts. Needless to say, we think we know; and then we are confronted with the use or interpretation of a term or concept that is rather foreign to us. If we can listen deeply and mindfully to disparate 'takes' on a word or concept, we may become engaged in a language of learning rather than get distracted by particular use of language in itself.

This is both the opportunity and challenge we will find within the pages of IFOTS: we do not present a simple array of differing views and perspectives here. Rather, we see how the very wording, the use of words, the interpretations of concepts, the meaning-making through the lens of those other from self, and even the uncommon syntax and stringing together of words provides a rich environment for critical reflection. …
