In an increasingly ageing world, there has been a necessary reexamination of what being old and healthy means. This book, written by a range of subject specialists, is a valuable study of innovative research within British Columbia, which challenges assumptions that being old means being unhealthy. The book is broken into three sections with the first introducing the demographics of ageing in British Columbia. A second section provides nine varied empirical studies of different aspects of health in older age. The final section identifies how such applied studies can be translated into better healthy ageing policy. The book is very clearly written and aimed more at undergraduate level but would work well as an introduction to health geography given the breadth of subjects covered.
