In the Pursuit of Excellence: Join Us at Our 24th Annual Meeting and Scientific Conference

I want to invite you to join us at our 24th Annual Meeting and Scientific Conference in Arlington, Virginia on June 8 -12, 2011. The Association of Black Nursing Faculty's annual meeting is a unique and wonderful professional experience. First, you are welcomed and invited to join colleagues who are pursing excellence. If an observer studied The Association of Black Nursing Faculty (ABNF), the main theme would be coauthoring the success and the pursuit of excellence among its members. This theme has been instrumental in facilitating the professional development of hundreds of nursing faculty over the past twenty-five years. With the support of ABNF members, many faculty members have published their first journal article, received their first funded grant and found a generous inspiring mentor.

Attendance at the 24th Annual Meeting and Scientific Conference means that you will meet colleagues who can share life stories of success and greatness. For example, our Founder, Dr. S allie Tucker- Allen inspires and encourages both senior and junior faculty. She never meets a stranger and everyone is important. As one of the early members of the American Academy of Nursing, she is a successful entrepreneur, writer, nationally and internationally known leader. Another example is Dr. Renee Williams, who currently serves as the Vice President of ABNF. Dr. Williams is a professor at the University of Mississippi and a highly gifted national leader in faculty development.

In addition to meeting inspirational leaders, you will have the opportunity to meet our keynote speaker, Dr. J. Taylor Harden, Assistant to the Director for Special Populations Office of the Director National Institute on Aging National Institutes of Health. Dr. Harden is a dynamic speaker and provides insight and expertise on successful grant funding and information about the priorities of the National Institute on Aging. …
