This volume contains an introductory essay and twenty-three papers in French, English, and German, selected from the much larger number that were presented at the ICLS conference of 2007. The papers are grouped under four headings: 'Mythologie courtoise', 'Mises en scène du pouvoir', 'Figures exemplaires', and 'Débattre d'amour'. The overarching theme of mythology is addressed both in terms of the use of classical mythological figures in medieval literature (for example, Venus, Cupid, and Jocus; Narcissus and Pygmalion; the Trojan War and its aftermath), and in terms of the ways that literary texts construct new, specifically medieval or courdy 'myths'. …
