President Barack Obama has designated Marty Castro as the Chairperson of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights (USCCR) That designation was approved by unanimous vote of the commission at its regular business meeting on March 11, 2011, the Commission announced in an e-mailed statement. Castro is the eighth chairperson of the USCCR since its inception in 1957, and the first Latino chairperson in the commission's history. President Obama appointed Castro to the commission onjanuary 27, 2011. Castro is also President of Castro Synergies, LLC in Chicago, and Chair of the Illinois Human Rights Commission.

The veteran employment law attorney, Marshall Babson, has joined Seyfarth Shaw as a partner in its New York and Washington, D. C. offices. Babson, who comes to Seyfarth from Hughes Hubbard & Reed, was appointed as a member of the NLRB by former President Ronald Reagan and was the principal author of the Chamber of Commerce's amicus brief urging the U.S. Supreme Court to rule that the NLRB had overstepped its authority by issuing decisions as a two-member panel of a three-member quorum.
