Carey Wayne Meadors, a Life Member of the Arkansas Historical Association, died March 4 at his home in Fayetteville. A graduate of the history program at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, and member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, Meadors was a self-employed building contractor. Meadors is survived by his mother, Gwen Ballantine of Fayetteville, daughter Wen Tate of Hickory, North Carolina, and five grandchildren.

The thirty-fourth Mid-America Conference on History will take place in Springfield, Missouri, September 20-22, 2012, and is to be hosted by Missouri State University. The conference seeks proposals for individual papers and group sessions, including graduate student papers. Proposals should be submitted by June 1, 2012, and include an abstract for each paper proposed. This year's featured speakers are Douglas Brinkley, Rami Khouri, and George Rable.
