Role on the editorial board: Conference Spotlight Editor

Describe your role on the Partnership editorial board.

I'm the Conference Spotlight Editor. I solicit submissions from conference presentations - these can be from the speakers or audience members and can be in video or print format. I guide the submissions through the peer review process - pairing the right reviewer with the right submission and guiding the successful submissions through the editorial process until they are published.

What prompted you to become involved with Partnership?

I was looking for a professional development opportunity. My first career was in book publishing - I held sales & marketing coordinator positions. What I really wanted to do when I first entered publishing was edit - but that dream quickly died when I realized I didn't have the patience to do it on a daily basis. Ironically, I had to leave publishing to get an editor position!

What was your first job?

My first real job was as a waitress at a country club - I worked in the restaurant and at golf tournaments and weddings. The best part of the job was driving the beverage cart during the golf tournaments - there was no better way to spend the summer than driving around a golf course!
