The Merchant Taylors' Hall is impressive and steeped in a long and distinguished history - an appropriate setting, then, for the annual Graduation Ceremony. This year, I had the honour of representing the IAM as a Trustee and Member of Council. As I sat on the platform scanning both graduands and their guests, the sense of history ofthe Hall was overshadowed by an overwhelming sense of pride and achievement that was emblazoned across the face of every graduand. I could almost feel the air of relief as hours, days, weeks, months and years of study had culminated in a ceremony to reward their achievements.

Peter Fitzpatrick, the incoming Chairman of Council, made nervous graduands feel at ease with his consummate charm - not to mention the odd pun or two! Lord Peston's advocacy of education, qualifications and continuous development, provided sound encouragement for individuals to continue their learning journey and aim as high as their aspirations would allow. Distinguished senior members of the IAM received apt recognition and awards for their tireless work and dedication to its continuing success. …
