As the curtain closes on 2012, we reflect on a "topsy turvy' 'year, to quote from Lisette's editorial that provides us with a glimpse of some of the challenges we face in Physical Education at the present time. A high point of the year was without doubt conference in Rotorua, commencing with a warm mihi whakatau and strongly supportive words for the work of Physical Education teachers from the Principal of our host school, Chris Grinter at Rotorua Boys' High School. Xanthe's article on electronic learning logs epitomises the high quality presentations at conference, from teachers and teachereducators alike, sharing good practice, lan's summary of conference draws on the many strengths experienced this year, one of which was the celebration of awards for excellence within the profession and the presence of those Physical Educators who built the profession in earlier years. We congratulate all awardees on their high achievemen t and thank our senior colleagues for their work that contributed to the high regard internationally, for Physical Education in this country. Bob reminds us that professional associations do have their moments when continuity is not guaranteed, however, it seems that Physical Educators will step in when the need is dire. …
