Here is a useful resource for pastors and worship committees who regularly use the Revised Common Lectionary to give order to worship. Wayne Leupold asked noted composer Dan Damon to set the more than fifty-two texts. Readers are told about Damon (and there is a preface by him), but there is nothing about Grindal, a serious omission. We don't learn that she teaches rhetoric at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, and has written prolifically connecting theology, culture, and hymnody.

These texts are based almost exclusively on the gospel lessons for the week, although from Pentecost 6-9, Grindal draws from both the Romans and Matthew texts. She hopes to finish a series of lectionary hymn texts on the Epistle lessons by 2013. Perhaps the publisher will try to set her Series B and C lectionary texts to music as well, instead of publishing just her metered texts. …
