Summer 2013: Government Financial Systems and Technology. Is the era of large investments in ERP-based financial systems that take years to implement over? OMB has asked thatthe federal financial management community devise ways to continuously and incrementally modernize their financial systems without large capital investments and to use a "share first" approach to system changes. Other influencers include new reporting paradigms exemplified by the Recovery.Gov initiative, new decision-making capabilities through the use of advanced analytics, and the availability of open-source, visualization, and business process management tools, along with the push to the cloud and prevalence of mobile platforms. We seek articles, from all levels of government, about what experiences or approaches, tools or technologies, can really drive value for future governmentfinancial systems.
