This volume is a very welcome addition to the Brepols series which has already made available quite a number of English translations of the thirteenth-century Latin lives of holy women from the Low Countries: Ida the Compassionate of Nivelles (Vol. 6, 2003), Marie d'Oignies (Vol. 7, 2006), Christina Mirabilis, Margaret of Ypres, and Lutgard of Aywières (Vol. 19, 2008). The vita of Yvette (11 5 8- 1228), a widow from the town of Huy between Namur and Liège, was composed shortly after her death by Hugh, a monk of the Premonstratensian abbey of Floreffe (translation by Jo Ann McNamara). …
