It is designed for university libraries and provides 1 20 short texts, most of them not previously available in English. The remit is broad, both chronologically - the earliest being from the eighth and the latest from the early fifteenth centuries, with a concentration in the period 1 000- 1400- and thematically, being divided into twelve sections of social, economic, religious, and educational history. Some of the sources were printed in their original language in nineteenth-century Italian publications, others in editions produced in the last few decades, while more than a few remain imprinted and are presented here as translations fresh from the archives. …
