As we slip into January and start planning for another year around the IAM office, potential New Year resolutions circle in our minds - what to change, what to improve, what new paths to venture down and explore - but most importantly, how we can change the face of our own work. Below are a few ideas that we came up with.

Resolution one: Crowdsource

Crowdsource is a term that is becoming increasingly familiar within business circles, particularly as we all learn to utilise the marketing potential of the internet. Imagine the traditional 'suggestions box' typically found in hotel foyers and restaurants. Crowdsource is the 21 st century version. Similar in concept to 'outsourcing', instead of using the resources of a creative or designer, businesses can use crowdsourcing to send a 'shout out' to the general public to help solve a creative need. Examples include, Knorrfood manufacturers asking customers to send in recipes and then printing them on the lids of food jars, as well as American Apparel, who encouraged people to write 'tag words' on their website to accompany their advertising, There are many arguments as to whether using the community helps to strengthen or cheapen your brand - but it might be useful to stay tuned in to how crowdsource develops over the next twelve months.

Resolution two: Mentoring

Not only can there be a great sense of satisfaction found in formally mentoring others, but you can also learn new things about yourself. For anyone who is looking to expand their horizons but is a little unsure as to what exactly they want, becoming involved in either a work or extra curricular based activity could help you on your way to discovery.
