Oct. 16: The president of the Bahrain Youth Society for Human Rights, Mohammed Al-Maskati, was arrested for taking part in an illegal protest. Bahrain continued to receive criticism from the international community for cracking down on human rights activists. [Al-Akhbar, 10/16]

Oct. 21: The Bahraini government arrested seven people it accused of involvement in the murder of a police officer the previous week. Opposition group Wifaq stated the town where the violence took place was under siege by government forces and activists were trying to get through checkpoints. [Reuters, 10/21]

Oct. 25: A police officer who was injured during protests in April succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment abroad, and another was killed in ongoing clashes with demonstrators on Friday in al-'Akr.
