Obituary: Dr. Muhammad Ali Siddiqui

We regret to announce the passing away of Dr. Muhammad AH Siddiqui, one of the esteemed members of the Pakistan Historical Society, on 9th January 2013 in Karachi.

Bora at Amroha (1938) he migrated to Pakistan in 1948. After his early education he obtained master's degree in English from the University of Karachi in 1962. He did his Ph. D. in 1992 from the same University in Pakistan Studies and later in 2003 obtained D. Litt, in the same subject from the said university.

He worked as Director of the Quaid-i-Azam Academy, Karachi, taught for some time at the University of Karachi and also served for six years as the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Hamdard University Karachi and till his death was working as the Dean of the Faculties of Social Sciences and Management Sciences at BIZTEK (Institute of Business and Technology) Karachi.

He was a noted columnist for many newspapers and journals in Urdu and English. For nearly two decades he wrote a regular column with a pen-name 'Ariel' for the daily Dawn Karachi. …
