Amanda Husberg, a well-known composer of hymn tunes, takes on Gracia Grindal's Lectionary Hymns, Series ? (Gospels) to provide what is certainly a very useful resource, especially for those who use the Revised Common Lectionary on a regular basis.

Husberg makes note in her introduction that she believes ". . . the music is the hand-maiden of the text. The music should not be so distinctive as to draw attention away from the words, but rather should wrap itself around the text, weaving melodies over and under the rhythms of the text." Husberg does a good job of setting Grindal's texts in a way that is creative but not distracting, especially for some of the less-conventional meters found in these texts. An excellent example of this is her setting of Grindal's "Wreathed in bright divinity," where Husberg uses a two-part texture with a unique yet singable rhythm.
