To Praise You: Music for the Journey of Faith Dan Schutte. Portland: Oregon Catholic Press, 2012. 80 pp. Choral songbook: 30106509, $15.00; CD: 30107367, $17.00.

The texts in this collection include biblical paraphrase, variations on ancient texts, and devotional poetry. Most are intended to bring comfort and strength or the assurance of God's presence. The liturgical settings for the hymns range from services of healing and anointing, to funerals and wakes, to baptism and eucharist.

Perhaps the most noteworthy quality of this collection is the keen attention to pedagogy. …
