Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the Fall 2013 issue of Material Culture\ I am pleased to present two research articles in this issue addressing cultural landscapes. The first brings us to a province in northern India where Melissa Belz explores changes in traditional architectural styles. Next, Charles Wade leads us on an historical journey through important iconography on the landscape of Dartmouth College. Finally, Brad Bayes presents an essay reviewing two books that both address the architecture of farms.

I also want to bring your attention to a special issue of Material Culture planned for Spring 2015 on technology (broadly defined) as material culture. This issue will contain research articles that consider the cultural role of various forms of technology. For the purpose of this issue, technology is defined as anything that makes everyday tasks easier. Manuscripts may consider (but are not limited to) any form of technology (electronic or non-electronic), how a type of technology is used in a cultural context, changes that result from the incorporation of new technology, the preservation of older technologies, how a form of technology is advertised, evolution of a form of technology and its cultural connections, or local and global forces that impact a form of technology and its uses. …
