I don't know where you were this summer but it sure was a hot and dry one in Colorado this year. I spent lots of time sipping iced tea, sitting in the shade, and trying to find cool water to take a dip into just to get away from the heat. Well it is fall and time for raking leaves in some areas and for the folks down under welcome to Spring!

We have lots of variety in this issue. We begin with a case study in India by Jyotsna Sanzgiri and Ken Murrell who explain a five step model to increase ethical OD practice in global situations. Both these authors are experts in international OD and provide all of us with a useful model that serves the OD field in two ways - high performance international organizational development and a solid ethical way to proceed when working globally.

Another fun cultural experience is John Crews' exposé of the famous wizard school Hogwarts with a unique strategic analysis of intentional culture. John draws a parallel between the culture of Hogwarts and Kotter's eight stage model.

Moving from culture to practices in organizations, John Mirocha, Richard Bents, Michael LaBrosse, and Kelly Rietow look at successful medium-sized firms to see the best strategies for developing leaders. Though the study was focused in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and in firms from 50-750 employees, there are some very interesting results.

The next article also focuses on practice with the role of McKinsey's 7S Framework in achieving organizational excellence being the center to this work. …
