Now thank we all our God with heart and hands and voices

As our endowment campaign gathers energy and moves ahead, I want you to know that we are already starting to implement some of the initiatives outlined in the campaign. Some donors have responded to help fund these programs now with short-term O gifts while we are building the endowment that will sustain the work for the future. Let me share with you some of the good things that are developing.

The Ambassadors Program

You've heard about this initiative that provides an introduction to church music as a career path and provides skill-building workshops and resources to undergraduate music majors. We are partnering with Chorister's Guild in this effort. Plymouth Church in Brooklyn, New York, has given us a generous grant enabling us to offer four workshops on college campuses this year. One has already been held at Florida State University in October and more are being planned. This initiative is spearheaded by our Lovelace Scholars and they bring tremendous energy and enthusiasm to these workshops.

Lovelace Scholarship Expansion

Thanks to an individual's very generous three-year commitment, we are able to offer a second-year option for Lovelace Scholars. In this new part of the Lovelace Scholarship, students who have attended one summer conference may apply to attend a second year. While first-year Lovelace Scholarships are intended to introduce the Society to students and are offered as broadly as possible, this new option will be highly selective as we seek out students who demonstrate a serious commitment to congregational song and the desire to contribute to the work of The Hymn Society. Students who are selected will receive a portion of their conference expenses as a scholarship and will have the opportunity to take leadership responsibility in the work of the Society. …
