Through her beautiful books and DVDs on the spirituality that can be explored in and through art, Sister Wendy Beckett is known to many as "the art nun." She has reminded us that beauty draws us to the Divine, and that the Divine speaks and beckons us through that beauty.

Beckett entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and spent twenty years teaching young people. Drawn to the contemplative life, she became a hermit on the grounds of a Carmelite monastery for the next twenty years. These years were spent in deep prayer, with her explorations of art as a support and aid in this interior journey. Over the years Sister Wendy had written letters to family and friends. The bulk of these letters are addressed to a Sister Ann, who held positions of responsibility within an active order, a major benefactor who shared Sister Wendy's passion for art and for a life of solitude. …
