In the world we are now living, inter-human communication has become a sine-qua-non condition, a must of the postmodern society of today. The extremely intricate technological infrastructure entered and conquered the most unexpected niches of our world so that, nowadays, the exchange of ideas and opinions, the transfer of knowledge, the debate, cooperation, have become possible not only among the civilized zones, but equally between them and some geographically-isolated areals.

The predictable corollary of such an explosive development of the communication means has been the necessary creation and implementation of a suprastructure of principles and concepts, which individualized and established what we are now generally and largely defining as the theory of communication.

The interest and concern of researchers and, equally, the regulations expected in the field, explain the elaboration of an extremely rich literature, highly attractive not only for specialists, but also for the public of various categories and cultural standards.

The journal we are issuing, International Journal of Communication Research, draws its vigour and viability exactly from this manifest interest, which explains the special place it has gained, within a quite short period of time, among the researchers and teams of specialists busily involved in communication and public relations domains. …
