Have you made your pledge to the Endowment Campaign yet?

Those who have pledged have been generous in their giving and we are extremely grateful for that. The nearly $400,000 in pledges and gifts have come, however, from fewer than 100 members and friends. Just think what we could do if all our members contributed!

There is no expectation that each person must give a certain amount or match anyone else's gift. The important thing is for each to give as she or he is able and be a part of this exciting plan for the future.

When Charles Wesley echoed Johann Mentzer in wishing for a thousand tongues to praise God, he was using the poetic device of hyperbole, a great exaggeration, to emphasize how much he wanted to express his devotion. When we say, "we need a thousand contributors," we are not exaggerating at all. That's exactiy what we want to achieve-in fact, we'd really like to have over 1300 contributors. We'd like to have ALL our individual members participating in this campaign.

Why is it important to have everyone's participation? There are two important reasons. The first is that a contribution to the endowment campaign is a vote for the continuing success of The Hymn Society's work to encourage, promote and enliven congregational song. With your pledge and gifts you are saying you believe The Hymn Society can be effective in providing resources, skill-based training, and research that supports and gives prominence to the place of congregational song in our houses of worship. …
