These are the newest additions to an ongoing series. Volume 2 contains nine new arrangements, and Volume 3 eleven, all geared to upper-elementary-age children. Most settings are for unison voices, some with an optional descant; a few indicate two equal voice parts. All are accompanied by keyboard, many with optional treble instruments and/or percussion.

A few arrangements in each volume are of familiar hymn texts with their commonly-used tunes. For example, Vol. 2 includes "O sons and daughters, let us sing," (O Filii et Filiae), and Vol. 3 contains "I want Jesus to walk with me," to the traditional African-American melody. Particularly appropriate for children is the setting of "I want to walk as a child of the light," both text and tune by Hymn Society member Kathleen Thomerson (vol. 2).

In one of her five compositions included in these volumes, Hymn Society member Nancy Raabe creates an interesting juxtaposition of familiar text and tunes, in a completely new and unfamiliar way. She skillfully weaves together "While shepherds watched their flocks," "Away in a manger" (Cradle Song), and "O come, all ye faithful" (Adeste Fideles). Thomas Keesecker, also a Society member, sets a contemporary-language version of the Lord's Prayer to an upbeat, calypso melody with accompaniment. …
