Electronic Parallel Diplomatic Manuscript Texts of 'Ancrene Wisse' Part 4: A Printed Trial Version, by the Tokyo Medieval Manuscript Reading Group (Tadao Kubouchi et al.) (Tokyo, 2001). xiv + 204 pp. No ISBN or price. A collation of four of the chief manuscripts of part iv of Ancrene Wisse, printed line by line, the four manuscripts being: A (Corpus Christi Cambridge 402), C (Cotton Cleopatra C.vi), N (Cotton Nero A.xiv), and V (Bodley, Eng. poet, a.l, the 'Vernon manuscript'). The collation is based on the text in the diplomatic editions of Ancrene Wisse published by the Early English Text Society, though these have been compared with microfilms and published facsimiles and a small number of errors corrected. Only the text as written by the main hands of the manuscripts in question is printed, keyed to that in A by the standard folio and line numbers: this is accompanied by brief introductory remarks and textual notes.
