The present issue comprises three articles, Tadhkirat al-Umard' Current History and a book review.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Chawla (Pakistan) has discussed the Interim government of India (1946-1947) which eventually became a prelude to the creation of Pakistan. Dr. Chawla in his research paper entitled 'The Interim Government in India in 1946-1947: A Fresh light' has discussed the reasons for the failure of the Interim Government and suggests that the All India National Congress was mainly responsible for the failure of all efforts at reaching a peaceful solution to the political problems. In a way this attitude of the Congress was responsible for forcing out the League from the Indian Government. In this way it made the establishment of a separate homeland for the Muslims of South Asia unavoidable.

In the next article Dr. Husnul Amin (Germany) critically reviews the current problems of Islamic Social Movements in the Muslim countries including Pakistan in his research paper entitled 'Making Sense of Islamic Social Movements - A Critical Review of Major Theoretical Approaches. …
