On the 20th of March 1998 at Te Papa Tongarewa 200 special guests came together to celebrate the launching of the new resource, Peke Taura Mo Te Manawa. It was indeed an important and significant occasion for Physical Education New Zealand, Te Reo Kori Aotearoa and the National Heart Foundation. Not only was it the first publication to be launched at the new museum, it was also the first resource to be published which gives support to the new Health and Physical Education Curriculum Document.

Peke Taura Mo Te Manawa is a new supplement to the Jump Rope for Heart Manual. It provides an exciting opportunity for New Zealand students to experience a Maori dimension to the very popular Jump Rope for Heart programme.

Special guests included Kaumatua of Te Hotu Manawa, Tawhao Tioke and other dignitaries from the National Heart Foundation, Jim Maniapoto from the Hillary Commission, Janet Winter Love, Parae Wirepa, George Konia and other representatives from the education sector and of course PENZ. …
