Background: E. coli O157: H7 is one of the most important pathogenic bacteria that produce, hemorrhagic colitis in hu- mans. Livestock are the main reservoir of these bacteria. The aim of this study was to determine and evaluate the antibiotic resistance genes stx1 and stx2 in pathogenic E. coli O157: H7 isolates from beef cattle slaughter samples in the Fars prov- ince.

Methods: In order to study 360 samples of meat from cattle slaughtered in the spring and summer season of 1391, from slaughterhouses Kazeroon, Fassa and Shiraz was collected. Collected Samples was transferred to Kazaroun veterinary microbiology laboratory. Rapidly growing and microbial anal- ysis of samples was performed and colonies suspected of E. coli O157: H7 were evaluated by PCR technique. After identi- fication of bacterial, antibiotic-resistant strains were tested by disk diffusion method and specific primer of pathogenic- gene of 2 stx1 and stx2 with multiplex PCR method was evaluated.
