Research utilization is aimed at using the highest levels of research to implement evidence-based care to improve patient outcomes. Scientifically rigorous research and evidence-based practice changes are worthy to share and serve to inform others of successes, barriers, and challenges that have been met during the research process, building upon previous research and forging the path toward improved patient care. Nursing research contributes to and enriches the health sciences scholarly arena as well as the culturally appropriate and holistic approach to patient care. Dissemination through written, oral, and visual presentations, research findings and implications for practice are made available. By augmenting research appraisal, scholarship, and dissemination skills, specifically in the areas of prenatal and pediatric care, nurses can effectively contribute to the science of health promotion and health care. …
