Group Therapy of Palestinian Mothers of Children with Traumatic Brain Injury: Multi Cultural Aspects

Parents of children who suffer from brain injury have to cope with raising a child who all of a sudden have special needs. These parents need continuous support and follow-up from various service providers.

Literature has shown that group therapy is one of the major tools of help to these parents, where parents become part of a larger group with whom they can share feelings, practices and challenges. Parents also become a support group and provide concrete help to each other.

The current presentation will discuss the work of group therapy with 11 Palestinian mothers of children with traumatic brain injury. The group ran for seven sessions of three hours each. Working with Palestinian mothers of brain injured children in East Jerusalem has unique qualities. …
