The presenter is a general pediatric hospitalist who previously worked full time as an Indian Health Service pediatrician to the Navajo and Hopi nations and is currently engaged in research for a book on the intersection of health, culture, and history among the Navajo people. As a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Native American Child Health, he assesses existing Native American health facilities and programs, advocates for high quality, culturally appropriate pediatric care to indigenous populations, and is US chairperson for the Fifth International Meeting on Indigenous Child Health, scheduled for April, 2013. He coordinates cooperative efforts between Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center's CCHMC's Global Child Health Program and Gallup Indian Medical Center, an Indian Health Service hospital in New Mexico. …
