The author states in the preface that this book dose not attempt to answer all of the questions or provide all of the information about diesel engine and fuel systems. The intent is to provide information on theory of operation and general information on tear down and repair of diesel engines used in over the road trucks and to a lesser extent, diesel engines used in marine and construction applications. The text is clearly written and utilizes numerous illustrations, tables and charts. A short sample indicated a reading level of 11.2 on the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level test.

The content and the presentation of the content suggest the intended reader is the technician, not a college student. It would not be appropriate for college level engineering classroom, but it could be used for a career tech or agricultural mechanization class if additional technical manuals specific for the engines being used are also available. …
