This book review will cover a brief overlook of the book, a critical view on its main and more interesting features, its contribution for social and emotional education and its international relevance.

After a first look at the book and pass through the first pages, we get the impression that we are facing a very well-organized book and we start to be willing to take a closer look to its structure and to each of its sections.

The book is organized in three main parts:

· Part I - Students, where the focus is on child and adolescent development (cognitive, self, social, moral, language) keeping also an eye on the diversity (culture, needs, learning)

· Part II - Learning and Motivation, focusing on the different perspectives for learning and motivation and the related process

· Part III - Teaching and Assessing, oriented to the teaching and assessment process

These three parts encompass fifteen chapters that cover the main questions and issues on educational psychology in nowadays. A deeper look to each chapter show a common structure that starts with what the author calls "Teachers - casebook", where a case or a situation related to the chapter content is presented followed by a set of questions, stimulating this way the search for answers and the interest for the matter and the willing to discover the chapter contents. At the end of the chapter, the position of several expert teachers revealing how they would deal with these cases/situations is presented. The overview and the objectives of each chapter are also presented in a clear way, followed by a detailed explanation of the main contents within each theme with the key terms defined along the way. Across each chapter very interesting special features are presented like the Point/Counterpoint focusing on a special issue opposing different points of view, or the Guidelines that offer practical applications of the theories or principles presented and discussed, and the Guidelines/Family and Community Partnerships giving important and useful clues to promote the involvement of these fundamental actors in the learning process. …
