Greetings, and welcome to the fall 2014 issue of the Journal of Childrens Literature.

It is hard to believe that it is now two years since I wrote my first letter to you as incoming president of the Children's Literature Assembly (CLA). Working with so many dedicated CLA members and volunteers has been rewarding beyond belief. Although it would be impossible to note everyone who has contributed to CLA over the past two years, it is important to recognize a few who have gone above and beyond to help CLA and the world of children's literature.

This year we thanked two members of our organization for their dedication to CLA, each serving for more than a decade. Evelyn (Evie) Freeman, the elegant messenger of emails and membership communications, has served in the past as president of CLA and membership chair. Thank you, Evie, for your ever-cheerful and tireless work! Please join me in welcoming Deborah (Deb) Wooten, who has taken on the role of membership chair with grace and enthusiasm.

The financial management of an association is essential to its success but often overshadowed by other, more public roles. From 2001 to 2013, Lillian Webb served as treasurer of CLA, processing countless renewals, making payments, and preparing dozens of financial reports. Deep apprecia- tion goes to Lillian and her husband, Fran, for such capable and trustworthy stewardship!

This fall at the annual meeting of the National Council of Teachers of English in National Harbor, Maryland, just outside of Washington, DC, we look forward to a new model for our daylong CLA workshop, traditionally held postconvention on Monday. …
