Tras de la poesía

nos queda lo sonoro

sin palabras ni coro,

cuerpos en entropía.

La calle todavía

pide sombras. No cruces

sin ver los autobuses,

la guerra que respiro.

Inútilmente estiro

mi camino sin luces.

Poetry is just the name

for our faint embodied sound,

music once it's not around,

ash in lockstep with the flame,

streets still summoning the same

shadows. Watch buses sever

concrete. This war will never

end. Our breath is the front line.

La guerra que se trajo

de puertos tropicales

nos hizo sucursales

de huesos, un refajo

de islas en el tajo

War, as in the wounds we brought

with us from tropical ports

making us echoes of sorts,

boneyard songs, islands of thought

shaped by blood currents and clot
