Vicki-Marie Has Resigned!

Vicki-Marie McGaughran has resigned her position as National Administrator, to follow her first

love of speech and drama and has accepted a full-time teaching position in a private school in Wellington. She will be sorely missed as she has carried an enormous load with elegance and style and she has held the organisation together through the good times and the rough times. Had Vicki-Marie not been handling the paper work, doing the financial management, making cases to funding agencies, representing PENZ in a variety of forums, helping the President, taking the minutes, setting up meetings, acting as a public relations expert and negotiating good deals to benefit PENZ members, PENZ's survival would have been severely tested.

Vicki-Marie has been our longest serving paid officer, having started with us in 1985, following the retirement of Cecil Symmes. Enormously talented, she has transformed our adminstrative operations, added style and elegance, moved us into a public office, hooked us onto the computer age, tidied up our financial management, managed resources, maintained contact with kindred organisations, negotiated (often complex) relationships with individuals and organisations and she acted as an assistant editor of the journal. She was also an enthusiastic supporter of our moves to become a bi-cultural organisation and much, much more. …
