After a five year hiatus, About Performance is back!

We apologise for the long delay, which has been caused by staff cuts, retirements, and the chronic under-resourcing that has afflicted so many humanities departments in Australian universities in recent years. About Performance is produced by staff in the Department of Performance Studies and it receives no additional funding, which means that it is particularly vulnerable at such times. We can, however, assure our readers that we are doing all we can to ensure that the journal will appear more regularly in future.

Gay McAuley, who now holds an honorary position in the department, has agreed to serve as editor for the next five issues, and it is hoped that these will be published on an annual basis, as was the case in the past. We have also decided to extend the ambit of the journal: from issue No. 6, to be published in December 2004, we are introducing a formal peer reviewing process so that articles published will have fully refereed status. The journal will not be restricted to publishing work produced in the department but will invite contributions from appropriate people in other departments and other institutions as well as from performance practitioners. …
