DURING THE PERIOD August 16, 2014 to August 15, 2015, the following breakdown shows what has occurred involving the Journal of Allied Health. Logistical support was provided by the firm of eJournalPress, a company with headquarters in Rockville, MD.

An overall acceptance rate of 63% for all manuscript types does not reveal a totally accurate picture since it is based on the number of submissions minus the number of pending articles. That proportion will change depending on the outcome of publication decisions made regarding 39 manuscripts that still are pending. For example, if 10 of those 39 pending manuscripts eventually are rejected, the overall acceptance rate would decline to 46%, assuming that all 29 other pending items had not been decided upon yet.

Also worth noting is that the total number of manuscripts submitted that require some form of action is a figure that does not provide a complete profile. Viewed from another perspective, the total actually is 152, an amount that includes revised manuscripts resubmitted on more than one occasion, manuscripts withdrawn for various reasons, and papers rejected without a review.

Whenever manuscripts are withdrawn, it may be because the authors have difficulty in making changes proposed by reviewers or these items originally failed to pass a quality control checkpoint involving an author's statement regarding potential conflicts of interest and the submission of both blinded and non-blinded manuscript copies.
