Managing business is becoming tougher day by day because of the competition, customer awareness and demand, uncertainties in the business environment etc. The most important resource to manage in any organisation is precisely the human resource though trade unionism is disintegrating in India because of the new age organisations, especially in the IT and ITES sectors. Interestingly, the trade unions of Australia are playing very constructive role to deal with the emerging issues. The lead article by Thomas Barnes on "Beyond the Fear Factor : Trade Union Responses beyond the off shoring in Australia",among the 8 articles in the current issue of the journal, has explored the role of Australian unions in dealing with the tension between international and local concerns.

The article on "The Risk(y) Rationality : Towards a Conceptual Framework for Managing Risk during Product Innovation" by Hooman Attar has studied risk in late modern society and its management in early stages of product innovation. Innovation is inevitable as the product life cycle is becoming shorter day by day. In product innovation, the art and science of managing risk is of interest to many organisations. Business schools are playing vital role in creating and supplying quality professionals to industries which has very critical role in determining the performance of the organisation. In the paper "Quality Work Culture in Business Education : An Empirical Analysis" by MehrajUd Din Shah, it has been attempted to examine the factors which restrain business schools to achieve academic excellence. It highlights that business schools predominantly lack quality culture, and thereby fail to achieve desired goals.

Study of consumer behaviour is very much essential to strategize the business. It has a strong positive co-relation with the sales figures. Deepthi Sankar has in her paper "Consumer Behaviour towards Instant Food Products : A Perceptual Study" examined the consumer behaviour of individuals towards instant food products and also the factors which motivate the consumers to buy the product. The paper "Strategic Segmentation of Users in India"by Amit Sachan has focused on segmentation of market and has applied conjoint analysis to measure utilities of various ATM services. …
