The history of the relations of the Episcopal Church with the Serbian Orthodox Church in the United States have been recently given greater clarity and prominence, albeit some unintentionally, with the publication of this volume that recounts the lives of two great missionary bishops of the latter church in its early years in this country, both having ancestral roots in the region of Montenegro earlier in the twentieth century, namely Saint Mardarije Uskokovich of Libertyville and Chicago, Illinois (1889-1935), and Saint Sebastian Dabovich of San Francisco and Jackson, California (1863-1940). The book itself is ably compiled and edited (and given its appropriately hagiographie title) by the present Bishop Maxim Vasiljevic of the Serbian diocese of Western America. …
