Gloria Rising is a fictional book. It is about friendships and growing up to be what you want to be. Gloria, the main character in this book, wants to be an astronaut when she grows up but first she wants to stop being picked on by her classmate, Billy. In the beginning of the story, Gloria is in a supermarket. She is tossing an onion up into the air to see if she can catch it, but a woman by the name of Dr. Street catches it instead. A few days later, Dr. Street visits Gloria's class. Then, she finds out that Dr. Street is an astronaut! How cool! When Gloria becomes friends with Dr. Street, she tells her about the problems she has with Billy. Dr. Street tells her that she knows how to get over it. In the end, Gloria does solve her problems and believes she will be an astronaut, just like Dr. Street.
