Whether "good, bad or ugly," everyone has an opinion! It's sometimes challenging to be open-minded and respectful of others'opinions, especially when they differ from our own or when regarding a seemingly insurmountable obstacle. But considering a situation from all sides can make us, individually and collectively, more knowledgeable.

Not surprisingly, when we asked financial management professionals their opinion on government debt, it led to polarizing opinions and solutions. As a thought-leadership organization, AGA strives to continually shine light on such subjects - because, together, members of AGA and the governmentfinancial management community can make a difference. And we must.

In this issue, you'll find unique perspectives from a broad variety of colleagues, including the first controller appointed by the president underthe CFO Act, academicians, a former congressman, a young professional and a former comptroller general. Whether addressing government debt, public corruption, or howto attract and retain a talented workforce, they all convey a sense of urgency that something be done now. We can no longer afford to wait.
